He stared, perhaps a little too long at the other fellow student. Magenta eyes were trying to place just who the other teen exactly was. He blinked once, then twice again, hurriedly realizing that his hesitancy could very well be misplaced as rudeness. [break][break] “Ah, i-it’s fine, I’m just, um.” He was just, what? What was a good excuse? And why would a fellow classmate ask him what he was doing out of really, the goodness of his heart or rather just some endless amount of curiosity? Frazzled thoughts displayed themselves in a slight, overheated blush. Kazuyuki breathed out, cold vapor exiting his mouth. [break][break] “Sorry. Um, I’m generally okay with this kind of stuff. I just tend to… distract myself when I really shouldn’t be.” Was his answer strange? His eyes trailed downward again, at once attempting to avoid eye contact if he could. He was just a teenager and so was the other young man, there shouldn’t have been any kind of misunderstanding between them. Certainly, the other supposed hero-to-be would know of the constant struggles to focus listless teenagers often put upon themselves. [break][break] Kazuyuki put down his pencil, as if bracing himself for his own next words. He did know this other student, didn’t he? They were in the same class? He remembered the face was slightly familiar, if not the generic kind that seemed to fade in with every other face that he seemed to look at. [attr="class","kazuyukitemptext"] Everyone else made their introductions too. In a way, he was glad to have gone first to get such things out of the way. He went to adjusting his shirt collar once more, feeling more and more claustrophobic as time went on. It wasn’t that he didn’t do very good in crowded rooms with lots of people, it was just that, there was something about these ice-breakers that always felt so terribly awkward. [break][break] He nodded politely to the teacher when she mentioned the winter season. [break][break] Most people probably didn’t think so much about it. Generic introductions, some shy hesitations, a few who actually seemed confident in what they were saying. Things that most people would forget in the time they all would be spending with each other. They would all be spending some amount of time with each other right? [break][break] Without realizing it, most of the class had already gone. He missed some introductions, a certain pink-haired girl and then well, others he couldn’t really put a name to a face to. He kept his head down, trying not to draw too much attention to his own inattentiveness. [break][break] His own introduction had been generic enough, no need to really be… memorable. [break][break] And just like that, introductions came to an end. Sarasaki left the rest of the period open to questions and the like. Kazuyuki had nothing really to add. Even if he had questions about the school itself, he wasn’t sure if he had the wits to ask it in front of everyone else. Was he curious about the teacher herself? Probably, but nothing immediately came to mind about what he wanted to know. [break][break] Instead, he looked down at his desk, trying not to make any more eye contact than necessary. [break][break] Not particularly his favorite place, but his father once mentioned that he should, try not to be as solitary as he was back home. Hero school was still high school after all. He sat alone a few other students deciding to spend their Friday afternoon upon the same mundane activity. [break][break] He hadn’t really joined any clubs or anything, but if he could spend time outside the confines of his walled room maybe that counted for something. He didn’t want to disappoint his dad. He knew that his father already had pretenses about Kazuyuki’s apparent choice in career. [break][break] “I want to be a pro-hero someday.” [break][break] That was right. If his father wasn’t all that ready for Kazuyuki to become a hero, could he at least make up for it if he tried to make friends? In all, friends weren’t really his thing either. [break][break] The cold and distant demeanor he normally didn’t invite itself to friends. [break][break] And who at a hero school would want to be friends with the son of a villain? [break][break] He set his books aside, tapping his pencil with his finger. It seemed that even the ninja academy still had courses in algebra and the like. It wasn’t difficult no, but he found himself unable to focus finding x. He breathed out a heavy sigh, letting cold air exit his breathe. Though, what intrigued him more about their homeroom teacher was that… she seemed to be a bit casual. Maybe she was just as new to this whole teaching thing as he was to the whole hero thing. [break][break] Kazuyuki glanced back only once, looking to the other quiet students in the room. It was sufficient to say that the current mood in the room seemed rather quiet in general. Though it was a school that took their teachings from the core of ninjutsu, maybe that related to how ninja, in general, were supposed to silent and serious most of the time anyway. [break][break] He did raise his head at the mention of a pop quiz, only to be both relieved and surprised that the woman meant it as a joke. His feelings were really, mostly neutral about the matter. [break][break] It was introductions that were to come first. The usual set of ice-breakers given on the first day of formal classes. The teacher went first of course, and the pro hero gave her name. Sarasaki, the Ferry Hero. She liked fishing, food, and being alone. He quietly wondered if that was something appropriate that a teacher should say to their students. [break][break] Blinking once in a slightly startled reaction, the whiteboard was promptly slammed down on his desk. He did happen to be in the front after all. [break][break] Breathing out a cold breath of air, he knew that this was just the usual thing to do, but yet still, speaking up in front of a crowd made anyone nervous. Quickly, he scribbled out a picture of a snowflake on the whiteboard. Standing up, he held the board up so all could see his rather simple drawing. [break][break] “My name is Shiratori Kazuyuki. Um, my quirk, Flurry, allows me to generate freezing temperatures with my breath. I’m… more comfortable in the cold. I like the season of winter. And…” He paused, eyes drifting downward again. His hesitation come not out of nervousness, but instead, it seemed he still was deciding what he wanted to say. [break][break] “I want to be a pro-hero someday.” [break][break] A rather generic introduction really. What other reason would anyone want to be at a hero school other than to become a pro-hero? Kazuyuki bowed again, then erased his snowflake and passed it on to the next student. At least, if this would take up most of homeroom, then the rest of the period would pass by quickly enough. He adjusted his shirt collar, feeling the whole attire was a bit stuffy compared to what he would have preferred. It was still hot. Regardless, it was simply time for class and that was really all on his mind. [break][break] Kazuyuki Shiratori, soon hero-to-be and current student at Seijin Academy. That was him, yes, it was. The hero title was something he still wasn’t quite used to, though he supposed that it was still a long ways away before he even was supposed to think about such things. [break][break] He did want to be a hero. That was why he was there. [break][break] Walking to homeroom, he noticed a few others had made it there before him. And of course, the teacher was already waiting at her desk. Kazuyuki gave a few polite nods, though didn’t directly address anyone. It seemed as if the back of the classroom had already been populated by a few students so that only left the front. He didn’t mind it, he really didn’t care much for where he would end up sitting. What good was a hero if they were dumb enough to pass out in the heat? She mentioned that she would go to the teacher and let them know what had happened. [break][break] Kazuyuki knew he should have been ashamed. And yet, here he was at the nurse’s office with an empty water bottle in hand and the general feeling of exhaustion that still didn’t leave him. [break][break] He looked down and away, magenta pink eyes trailing down to the floor. [break][break] ”Name…” [break][break] Name? He blinked once, then twice again. The concept hadn’t even crossed his mind, considering the fact he’d been mostly passed out in the few moments they had shared. Did he even recognize her? She had to have been a student here, hadn’t she? He was sad to say that he didn’t immediately recognize her. Was that rude? What if they happened to be in the same class? Within moments of holding it to his mouth, the entire bottle was chilled. He drank the whole thing without even so much as a thank you. He leaned forward, wiping his mouth with the back of his arm. [break][break] ”Hello? Can you read this?” [break][break] With vision still blurry, it was difficult to understand why he suddenly saw a literal speech bubble floating in the air. He took one deep breathe in, and then white, cold mist exited from his mouth. [break][break] He looked up, seeing a petite pink haired girl standing in front of him. Had she been the one to help him out? [break][break] “Ah… U-Uh… Um…” The serious of stutters was all he could amount himself to, still wracking his brain for what the heck had just happened. “S-Sorry, I…” he only then noticed there was a very empty water-bottle in hand. “I-I think I was dehydrated.” [break][break] Maybe his already flushed red face would hide the fact that he was blushing even more. And yet somehow, that overwhelming feeling of stress and anxiety felt so quietly distant from himself. [break][break] Kazuyuki missed the cold. It was late summer, turning early fall, but it was still as hot as ever. And the bare essentials that was Seijin High school for Heroes to-be did little to help the heat. Air conditioning was, unfortunately, a barely a heard of construct in most of the buildings, which instead opted for the open sliding doors and natural wind. Wind that only barely came. [break][break] He could stay cold with his quirk. It was more like he needed the cold to even stay sane. But excessive use tired him out, there were too many people and teachers to avoid if he did so. Cold chills ravaged his body, though most of time he seemed to opt to slowly, silently suffer instead. He didn’t complain. He felt it built toughness, or something like that. [break][break] It surely wasn’t his fault when it was just one of those kinds of empty days. His mind went wandering, off to who knew where leaving his head rather empty. He knew he needed to study, so he threw a few books in his back and was headed off to the library. [break][break] Maybe he was just a little dizzy from the heat, not watching where he was entirely going. And so when he rounded the corner, he of course, saw that someone was there. His ungraceful attempt to stop himself only led to tripping over his own two feet. [break][break] CRASH! [break] “S-Sorr-!” [break][break] His head went into a rush. His body simply collapsed on the ground. His cheeks were flush from the heat, and beads of sweat trailed down his forehead. Kazuyuki would much rather prefer to left somewhat in the background. He doesn’t like attention, nor does he seek it, which could be ironic given his choice in career. Regardless, Kazuyuki is a nice young man. He is polite and kind to most all that he meets, never really trying to be rude unless someone mistreated him first.
A shy overall demeanor has left him to be seen as distant by most. Throughout his childhood, he was often seen as simply the quiet kid. He doesn’t mind it, at least not as much as he used to. He is rather mature for someone his age, but the truth lies in that he had to grow up rather fast. Though, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to be happy. Certainly, when prompted or given the right reasons, he can smile and he can laugh, and really it doesn’t take much at all to get him to do so.
He is diligent in his studies, always prioritizing his academics over all else. Though he isn’t one for physical activity, he’s learned to make himself handle the training and the physical exertion that is required of a hero and that of Seijin. Kazuyuki, like so many youths of the day, idolizes heroes and wants to bring justice to the world with a great confident smile. Though, he realizes that he is a long way away from ever reaching such a goal.
He seems to get nervous when being spoken to directly. He is rather soft-spoken, and when most often disturbed, he speaks with a slight stutter. While he does prefer his time alone, he would like to make friends, even if he still has trouble approaching most others. He is like most average teens, he enjoys idol bands and fashion, going to cute cafes and playing video games. He loves ice cream and most sweet desserts, and also enjoys longs walks in nature.
Due to the nature of his quirk, Kazuyuki does prefer cold places. Winter is his favorite season and he often states that the cold never really bothers him. Conversely, he hates summer and the unbearable heat it brings.
There is an overall melancholy to Kazuyuki that only the most astute would notice. Even while generally friendly, he seems to hold himself back from others. His eyes go dark at even the mentioning of villains, revealing a chilling persona he can’t seem to hold in. This is something overall cold about the young man, and it is certainly more than just his quirk. Kazuyuki has his secrets and his feelings are not things that he often shares freely with others. Perhaps he is rather lonely at heart and perhaps his friendly smile is only there for appearances.

Kazuyuki is a youth with handsome features and an overall slim physique. His hair is naturally two-toned, dark black with snow-white highlights. His eyes are magenta pink and are rather expressive. He has a clear, light complexion with little to no scars on his most visible skin. He stands at an unassuming stature of 5’7 (170 cm) with room to grow.
When at school he is most normally found in his Seijin uniform. He wears it neatly and naturally keeps up his appearance. His more casual attire is rather fashionable, as he dabbles in what the latest idols and celebrities enjoy wearing and he keeps himself occupied with good outfits and the like. He most often prefers sweaters and oversized shirts, things that would be both comfortable and stylish. And notably, clothes that would be more often described as ‘winter’ attire,such as gloves and scarves. His color palette is nominally black and white, with dashes of other colors. A noticeable piece of jewelry that he nearly always can be found wearing is a unique double-banded ring on his middle finger, the steel in colored black with some intricate design. Kazuyuki himself describes it as a 'family heirloom.'
Kazuyuki is the son of a villain.
His mother is known as the Yuki-Onna, the Snow Lady, who once terrorized Japan by freezing her victims to near death and causing destructive snowdrifts in the countryside. Once upon a time, the Yuki-Onna fell in love for a moment.
She had a son who bore the same affinity for the cold as she did. But the love of a child was not enough to keep her from her life of crime and terror. She left her son and the father, only to be finally arrested years later.
Today, the Yuki-Onna is a caged white bird. And her son still lives in her legacy.
Kazuyuki never became aware of his mother’s identity until later in life. But he always seemed to know, to ask the right questions, to be suspicious of who he was. Even when he was a toddler, he always preferred the cold. His father would never tell him, but a young Kazuyuki always knew, his coldness came from his mother.
As he grew up, his childhood was relatively normal, rather boring even. His single father was a post-man who rode his bike delivering letters and packages all day long. They were a small family who lived together in the city. Kazuyuki grew up without want of many things, but he was mostly humbled and learned valuable lessons from his father. From simple things like cooking and cleaning to more complex ideas, like kindness and sincerity. He wasn’t a bad kid, he was just a quiet one.
There seemed to be something missing from Kazuyuki’s life, something he never could quite place himself. Like many youths of his day, Kazuyuki idolized and adored heroes. But his admiration came at a distance, with the questions of his true identity still nagging at his mind. If truly he was the child of a villain, then how could he ever be a hero?
It was one day going through old boxes in the storage room, Kazuyuki found a small box. Newspaper clippings, articles telling of the terrors of the Yuki-Onna, the villain who took her name from the old tale of the Lady in the Snow. Something clicked in him, the sudden feeling of a cold chill he couldn’t shake. He found a ring in the box, double-banded with some decorative markings. He wears the ring to this day, a gentle reminder of who he comes from and who he swears he will never become.
He decided upon Seijin as his hero school. He preferred unconventional, and the Ninja Academy certainly was. His father didn’t stop him, but was of course, apprehensive about his son’s decision to try for heroics. Nonetheless, he supported him in his endeavors. Seijin proved himself capable enough to become a student and today is a member of Seijin’s class 1-A.

QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Flurry originates from a Kazuyuki's breathe, with special organs in his throat and lungs that create freezing temperatures and allows for the generation of snow and ice. Kazuyuki's overall body temperature is lower than that of an average human. The strength of Kazuyuki's cryokinetic abilities is often in relation to his control of breath as only when he exhales can he generate freezing temperature in the air. Kazuyuki's Flurry can reach distances up to 20-30 m away from him, effectively covering most surface areas in a layer of thin frost and ice and freezing small objects entirely. When using his breathe to freeze objects, Kazuyuki can cause Silver level frostbite injuries. After 2 posts standing of in his breath, people will start feeling numb. After 3 posts, they experience First Degree Frostbite around the size of the palm of a hand.
Though Kazuyuki became familiar with his quirk at a young age, he has been working hard to refine it. Within the most recent years has been able to extend the control of his breath. Some of his more basic use of his quirk has come in the in a form of 'shooting icicles' from his mouth. Kazuyuki will take a bit of water, super freeze it in his mouth and then shoot it out, similar to blow darts or arrows. The icicles are roughly the size of a pencil or around 6 in (15 cm). The icicles can cause piercing damage, such as minor cuts on flesh (Silver Level Damage).
Kazuyuki can use his quirk for a 5 post time limit.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS: Overexcessive use of Flurry leads to Kazuyuki's throat quite literally 'freezing up,' having him experience a symptom similar to asthma attack that inhibits his ability to talk or even breathe. The severity of the attack depends on how much Kazuyuki overextended the use of his Quirk.
Furthermore, Kazuyuki often struggles to use his quirk in dry, arid environments or the heat. His quirk mostly works with the humidity in the air, and being too hot or dehydrated can actually cause him to be quite sick.
