"The Back Bone of Any Good Society!"
Civilians are your common everyday person, they work, they fill the roles of those who are working towards a brighter future, and they are the people often in need of saving when villains come to start trouble.
Starting civilians are often high students who aren't pursuing heroic education courses. They may be undergoing training to become paramedics, police officers and the like. Or maybe they are just trying to help run the family laundromat business. Whatever the case they aren't trying to hurt anybody and are just trying to live their lives the best they can.
Balanced civilians are often those who have lived a normal and quiet life. Their quirks aren't anything incredibly notable and their skills were honed in the high-school classroom. Maybe they took gym classes or ran track, but their lives were about as average as they come.
Quirk-focused civilians are often born with above-average quirks but no drive to go into heroics or become a villain, on the other hand some civilians train their quirk just in case they are to run into a situation with villains if heroes don't show up, a growing trend among civilians.
Skill-focused civilians were often born with quirks that would serve little to no use to heroes and have decidedly dedicated themselves to the skills they can hone as a normal person. These skills often encompass things more important to civilians such as strength and endurance, but it isn't uncommon for civilians to pick up weapon training with self-defense tools in case they get into a situation where they need to defend themselves.

"Do you take action, or don't cha?! All you need to be a hero is the right answer to that question!!"
Sometimes skirting on the edge of criminality is what's needed to get the job done, not those fancy theatrics they teach you in hero school. Vigilantes are the loose cannons of the heroics world and they spent more time fighting then they did worrying about a license. While vigilantes are morally frowned upon by the government who are worried about the consequences of such illicit activity, most heroes will often work with a vigilante as long as their hearts in the right place. It isn't uncommon to see vigilantes working alongside heroes in the heat of the moment only to be completely wiped from the story to protect all sides involved.
Starting vigilantes may have missed their bus to hero school and found themselves desperate to make a change. They're often aged similarly to a hero student but have been in at least a few fights with actual villains and criminals and have found themselves more hardened for it. Often they keep their identities more hidden as to prevent getting caught early, and aren't allowed to as proudly boast about their accomplishments than what a hero would be allowed to do. But that doesn't mean they aren't heroes in their own right, and sometimes this way of heroism can be the right path if your heart is in the right place, especially in this age of waning heroism.
Balanced vigilantes are those who's quirks and skills are perfectly aligned to help in the capture of villains, and often their skills and quirks were honed in battle with actual villains and criminals instead of just some lousy classroom.
Quirk-focused vigilantes were most likely born with a quirk that was practically made to be used for justice, or their quirk has been perfectly honed in combat against villains and criminals. They've seen their fair share of combat and they've become powerful because of it! Though their lack of skills tend to make them less versatile then their skill based and balanced counterparts.
Skill-focused vigilantes may not fallback onto their quirk but when it comes to versatility there are few more adept. They often find themselves at home in rescue situations where their wide-array of skills gives them an upper-hand compared to the average vigilante or one who's more focused on how to use their quirk. They may not have a powerful super power to fallback on but their giving it the best humanity has to offer!

"Sometimes Our Agendas Don't Line Up With the So-Called Good Guys"
Not everyone sees eye to eye with what heroes are doing, and of those there are those that feel they have the power to change society as a whole. Whether they are working under a personal agenda or are working with a group, or maybe working for nothing more than chaos itself they are the villains of this world. These villains have little concern with what is considered morally right and may have a reason for what they are doing, or may not villains are truly the wildcards of society.
Starting villains are usually around the age of hero students or are getting into the game rather late and are having to catch up to those with more training. Regardless of where they are starting at they are relative newcomers into the game of villainy and may get their kicks out of robbing places, or have just committed their first murder. Maybe they've found themselves entranced into the musings of a major internet celebrity gone rogue, or have found themselves flirting with death in a situation where heroes have never come.
Villains no matter their view on it have committed some form of illicit activity and are becoming or have become a threat to heroes, while their faces are probably not known when you perform something illegal they will be treated as the villain they are. Common crimes committed by low-level villains are things like robberies, assault, and vandalism though it isn't uncommon for starting villains to get their start by murdering someone and spiraling further.
Balanced villains are often those that have spent an even amount of their life practicing their quirks and skills. Their skills and quirk may have been illicitly trained or it might just be a product of their education and upbringing. Regardless they are the common villain you may encounter if you stay out far too late.
Quirk-focused villains almost always have had some form of illegal quirk training, maybe supplemented by a villain tutor or trained against people in the streets. Sometimes they're quirks are even the products of quirk marriage and they are just coming to terms with how to control it. They are often less common then a balanced villain and their quirks make them especially potent in combat, albeit far more wild than your more balanced villain.
Skill-focused villains may have had a rough start and were born with a quirk that seemed impossible to use, maybe they think they were dealt a raw hand and are striking out to vent their frustrations. Yet with their lack of a quirk came a more dedicated approach their their skills, having much more time to hone their body and mind in a way that may make them far more versatile than your more common villain even if they are lacking in the genetics department.

NPCs, or Non-Playable Characters, are characters who are not controlled primarily by the creator and serve more supplemental roles to the plot! These NPCs could be someone like your character's parents, a hero to your sidekick, or a villain who is prevalent to your character's plot. NPCs tend to have stats that are higher than your average starting character and have quirks that do not need review or approval. Due to them not having to go through our approval process we ask that players exercise caution when building their NPCs quirk and use reasonable judgement to determine the power level of their NPCs quirks. NPC quirks are still victim to our banned quirks list found within the Rules section of the Information page. A general rule of thumb is that quirks that can highly influence the very world state of the site are banned from use, and as such any instances of an NPC with a quirk like that existing will need to be adjusted or changed outright. NPCs are free to have upwards of three skills of any rank, and have quirks that can go up to Diamond rank. These three skills can be any rank that you want them to be but generally they tend to stay below Gold unless you have a good reason for them to be Platinum! But you are free to experiment within these limits as much as you wish. This is obvious that an NPC can't be RP'd solely, they have to be used in conjunction with your PC. We ask that you do not make characters who simply exist to "sugar-daddy" your player character such as a rich character who non-stop provides your character with expensive gifts, or a character who just exists to get your character out of binds. Use sensibility when it comes to determine if your NPC may fall under this category. On top of this we ask that you don't make plots solely comprised of NPCs and try to bring in as many player characters as you can, we are a roleplaying site not a fanfiction site after all. Another rule for NPCs is they cannot hold important positions such as a mayor, a top 10 hero, or a internationally known villain or vigilante. This is to prevent NPCs from being created with major positions of powers that could greatly influence the plot of the site, we generally want to save such positions for use of players! So for now NPCs are restricted from holding major positions such as the ones listed, if you are unsure please feel free to message a moderator to review an NPC application or role for you to see if it fits the sites rules! The final rule is that NPCs cannot be students of any existing hero schools, as they are generally limited player character slots! Besides the obvious rules NPCs allow you to create major characters within your plot without having to create entirely new PCs just for a role in your personal plot. Please feel free to use the NPC Application when creating your NPC.

"The Backbone to Any Good Hero."Often working under the heroic agencies of bigger name heroes, sidekicks tend to come from lesser known hero schools but that doesn't make them any less important than the other heroes! They can fulfill important tasks related to the hero and often serve them during missions as backup or direct frontline support! There is an even-split demand for sidekicks that specialize in capture and those that specialize in rescue, meaning that there are often roles for anyone who wants to support in the way that they do best. Most hero agencies cover jurisdiction within a specific portion of a major city, or serve roles that are best suited to their quirks examples being: marine hero agencies that specialize in naval affairs such as ocean poaching or illegal transits, nature hero agencies that specialize in affairs regarding natural locations such as forests and other places that the government wants protected and could prove at risk of being involved with illicit activities, and of course heroics hero agencies who's primary focus is the capture of villains and the rescue of civilians whose bases are often in major and minor cities depending on the hero in questions influence. The hero to which your sidekick serves can be an existing hero on site or could be an NPC of your creation, though we ask that NPC heroes be checked over by a moderator as to be sure if they're good for use, we ask that NPC heroes be created within the NPC Index so that we can keep a firm list of existing major NPCs. Please follow the NPC rules when creating the hero your sidekick works for when you aren't using a player-controlled hero! We understand not everyone will want to create a sidekick for a hero agency and so freelance sidekicks are an option as well! These sidekicks often don't serve individual heroes being able to freely work for whichever hero is in need of help during a given situation, and of course are free to pursue heroism on their own accord without having to have someone overseeing them. Sidekicks have hero licenses and are certified heroes, but aren't quite on the level of a professional hero. They are often made up of younger heroes or heroes who have just graduated from a lesser known heroic education school and are looking to make a name for themselves! Balanced sidekicks are those that had a healthy balance of quick education and skill training within their hero school and are often those born with a quirk that had the potential to become a potent quirk once combined with their skills! Quirk-focused sidekicks are those that were born with an extraordinary quirk and probably received personal training during their heroic educations course but that has left their other skills lacking due to the hyper-focus they had paid to their quirk during their hero classes. Skill-focused sidekicks are those that were born with a more than lackluster quirk and probably were trained at a hero school that specialized in skill training as opposed to quirk training. Their weak quirks are supplemented by their immense skill in the fields they are proficient in, and serve many purposes to the heroes they work with. introduction: alternative start Not all people will want their first characters to be students of one of the numerous hero schools, this system is to help those who want their starts to be a little bit different. This system allows peoples' first characters to be things other than just hero students including: civilians, villains, vigilantes, and sidekicks. There are three different statblocks that allow your starting character, even if not a hero student, to be unique in a variety of ways! This allows for a greater freedom for your first character, even if they aren't a hero student. The three statblocks represent their different growth styles, one being oriented towards characters who trained their quirks growing up or were born with inherently powerful quirks, a skill oriented one for characters who's growth was more focused on their studies rather than their quirk or were born with inherently weaker quirks, and finally a balanced statblock representing an average growth with a neither inherently strong or weak quirk. We'd like for you to pick the statblock that both represents your character as well as fits how you would like them to grow! Whichever you pick we would like to be representative within their history however, with a reasoning for your choice fitting somewhere into your history! This allows the statblock to be more than just a stat choice, but also accurate to how your character was raised or born into. There are no prerequisites needed to use this system, and it is just an expansion to the character creation system that allows for a greater horizon for you to gaze upon when making your first character! You are free to pick one of the statblocks and immediately jump into character creation! For further details about character creation, please see the Schools and Character Creation system within the Mechanics page, and for characters with unique statblocks indicative of older characters please see the Additional Character Registration system also found within the Mechanics page.

introduction: Variant skills We understand that some players may want to make a unique take on an existing skills, whether by adding a drawback with an added benefit or mechanically flavor them in a way that better fits their character. The variant skills system allows players to do just that! By adding drawbacks to their skills they can add additional benefits, as well as flavor them in such a way as to better fit their characters. Variant skills must be unique takes on existing skills, and they allow players to explore more potential possibilities for what they're capable of. That said a system with such freedoms comes with a few limitations, one being that skills must encompass a focus in combat as hobbyist skills and things stemming from personality like intimidation would not fit into our skills system! That said maybe your character draws a strength buff from getting angry, and only when they get angry. That would allow you to incorporate a part of your character's personality into their variant skill without being reliant on how you RP the character! Another example of a variant skill is a combination of two existing skills into one! Perhaps your character uses a weapon during their martial arts, or maybe their martial art is synonymous with their weapon! For these instances the variant skills system would cover that, though for every skill you add to your variant skill it grows weaker in comparison to the dedicated skills! Variant skills must be written with all four ranks in mind upon creation, as to make upgrading them as smooth as possible, as well as for easy listing of skills upon the variant skills list. To do this we ask that variant skills be approved via a the Variant Skills Index, using the template found there! If you are unsure about the balancing of all four ranks of your variant skill you can DM a moderator, or leave the other ranks blank for a moderator to fill in upon going for a Variant Skill approval! Variant skills much like quirks will be critiqued as to keep a sense of balance among the site, and variant skills will also be archived within this thread as to help players from creating variant skills that already exist within our system! So if you're feeling uncertain about a variant skill you are creating, feel free to ask for help from moderators and don't feel discouraged if it has to be edited before approval! This list of variant skills is open to all other players to use as well, though the flavoring might have to be changed to fix your character if it doesn't seem to fit quite right, these pre-approved variant skills will always be open. A rule of thumb when it comes to designing variant skills is that if your variant skill is stronger than the original skill there has to be a drawback to reason it! Good examples of drawbacks would be perhaps your skill is tied to a cooldown or maybe you have to charge up to use your skill! Feel free to experiment with your variant skills however and see what fits within your RP'ing style and what best fits your character! As for how strong skills can become, I'd say a good rule of thumb that with a drawback your skill can be one rank higher than an existing skill! So if your Bronze strength skill was tied to a single downside than it could be capable of Silver strength skill feats! This system isn't rigid and feel free to experiment with what's allowed!

>Bronze: Support gear at the bronze rank should be something that either lacks an inherent power or not obviously useful at a glance, support gear at this phase is very much in the design process and may undergo many revisions down the line to improve it's usage. It is often something simple, such as a tracking device or a GPS or something that isn’t entirely at the highest level of strength it could be at. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 10 feet or can be used for 3 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 1: A simple rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold to help the user get up. It can go upwards of 10 feet and can hold a weight of up to 100 lbs.
>Silver: Support gear at a silver rank is something more advanced; either involving some robotics or tweaking an older piece of gear. It is often more complex than bronze, making use of drones and other more technical gear or something that is merely a more advanced version of one of a previously bronze support gear. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 20 feet or can be used for 5 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 2: A moderately designed rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold, and can create footholds within wooden structures. It can go upwards of 20 feet and can hold a weight of up to 150 lbs.
>Gold: Support gear at a gold rank is something that is well designed and simple to use with a sizable impact; either involving more use of suits or tweaking an older piece of gear. It is often more complex than silver taking use of combining different features with more technical gear or something that is merely a more advanced version of one of a previously silver support gear. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 30 feet or can be used for 7 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 3: A well-designed rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold, and can create footholds within stone structures. It can go upwards of 30 feet and can hold a weight of up to 200 lbs.
>Platinum: Support gear at a platinum rank is something perfected; either gear that involves something fully robotic or a tweak of an older existing piece of gear. It is often the perfected version of the gold-ranked ones, making use of armored suits and other more technical gear or something that is merely a more advanced version of one of previously gold support gear. Anything ranged is usually limited to about 40 feet or can be used for 9 posts, though the numeric stats of your support gear are dependent to the items drawbacks so numbers my fluctuate.
Example: Grappling Hook Mark 4: A masterwork rappel that has the ability of wrapping around a branch or another existing foothold, and can create footholds within steel structures. It can go upwards of 40 feet and can hold a weight of up to 300 Lbs.

INTRODUCTION: support gear A person applying for Support Gears may apply for a maximum of 3 support gears, each taking an individual ability slot of their own. To apply for a support gear, it is also required to thread with and list the member with the Engineering skill. Support gear should enhance someone’s quirk in some way or provide a benefit that they didn’t already have. Capture tools and other weaponry cannot be created here and will fall under Weapon Training! When it comes to designing what support gear can do it is best to draw from the well of what quirks are capable of, obviously we don't want support gear that could possibly give a single character multiple quirk like abilities and the like, or perhaps a piece of support gear that treads on another character's quirk too closely. In these instances we'd recommend to read through the Who's Who to make sure that your support gear you're making doesn't tread too closely to someone's quirk. When it comes to support gear that is capable of doing what certain skills do, generally the more it's able to do the worse each ability of the gear is. Support gear is unique in that it is possible to supplement your quirks own abilities with it, making support gear that adds new functions to what your quirk can do or supplements the utilization of your character's quirk in a unique way. For support gear like this you are capable of using the destructive power of your quirk but the gear will come with inherent drawbacks that come from the level the support gear is. So even if your quirk has a 9 post timer your support gear would likely have less post usage, or may cause your characters drawbacks to onset faster such as exhaustion. Though feel free to fully experiment with what you want to do with your support gear and find the balancing that works right for you! Support gear can cover a much wider range of abilities than that of a normal skill since it is a set of specialized tools. That said things like a gun would not fall under the support gear system because that would be inherently a gun or weapon. Capture gear such as Aizawa's scarf would also not fall under the support gear system instead being part of the weapon training skill! Support gear needs to be approved in all four of its ranks before it can be applied to your character or the character of another you are crafting it for! To do this please go into the Engineering System of the Locker Room and fill out a Support Gear template, then contact staff via the Discord for approval of the gear! It is to note that character's can only have upwards of 3 support gear on a single character, this does not mean that a single character cannot create more than 3 support gear items though! Additional support gear items must be created for other characters however, as long as they don't reach this upper 3 limit. You can create your support gear within the Support Gear Index using the template found there and once you're finished please contact-staff and we will get to it right away! Those with the engineering skill can create Support Gear with the following levels equivalent to their engineering rank.
