Kaguya is a friendly yet focused sort, equally happy to pass the time by chatting with a friend or tending to the plants she experiments with in her room. She is a very hard worker, to the point where she often misses sleep and winds up tired but happy about her progress the next day. Due to the fact that her Quirk requires skin exposure, she has little in the ways of modesty but isn’t the type to tease or flirt with people; Kaguya is very much a “work first” person. She believes in overcoming obstacles through small yet concentrated efforts, like grass breaking through concrete. That said, all her hard work also makes her appreciate humor and fun times all the more.
APPEARANCE
WEIGHT: 65 kg
EYE COLOR: Gold
HAIR COLOR: Grey and black
FACECLAIM NAME: FEater
FACECLAIM SERIES: Arknights
At only about 5.5 feet tall, Kaguya is rather short for her age. She has a naturally pale complexion inherited from her father, from whom she also received her grey hair with black streaks. She usually keeps some of the black bits of her hair tied into small buns, reminiscent of a panda’s ears. These, combined with her dark eye bags from long nights working, make her resemble the creatures quite a lot.
Kaguya also possesses a prominent figure for someone of her height. Her expression is usually one of tired contentment, with a lazy smile and half-lidded golden eyes. Around her ankles are a few root-like scars from early mishaps with her Quirk.
While she prefers lightweight clothing, she does have one large, heavy black and white coat that she enjoys wearing on occasion that seems to complete her panda aesthetic. It was a gift from her father several years ago, and despite its size is still fairly roomy within, preventing too many issues with her Quirk.
HISTORY
Kaguya was born the first child of two prominent heroes of Japan, both being Shiketsu alumni; the Tempest Hero, Mercury (also known as Sora Nakoma) and his wife, the heroine known as Botanique (Amber Spurrier). Shortly after she was born, her parents decided to move their hero studio to America so that they could raise her among their family, who also lived there now.
Her Quirk first manifested at the age of 5, when she and her parents visited her aunt Aella in the big city nearby. While she was playing with her father in the park, her ball got stuck in a tree nearby. Sora moved to retrieve it, only for Kaguya to try to help. On her father’s shoulders she reached, as a faint scent filled the air and several blades of grass formed below the ball on the branch, pushing it off.
Her Quirk discovered, much of the rest of the trip was spent experimenting with all the things she could think of as they pinned down its limitations. When she realized all the different things she was capable of, Kaguya declared that she wanted to be a hero just like her parents and aunt when she grew up.
Once she was old enough, she and her parents returned to the place of her birth. Though she was offered a number of schools to try out for, she knew from the outset that she wanted to attend Shiketsu like her mom and dad. She awaited the results of the exam eagerly, and a week later received a package in the mail containing her new uniform.
ITEMS
-A black smartphone with a simple white case and a charm of a bamboo shoot hanging from it
-Kaguya Killer: A spray bottle containing the plant-killing gas Kaguya can produce, used for precise removal of her grass so she doesn’t kill everything
Quirk AND SKILLS
QUIRK TYPE: Emitter
QUIRK RANK: Gold
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Kaguya emits a unique gas from her body that can seep into the surrounding environment, allowing her to cause different types of grass to germinate at will. She is able to manipulate the grass within her “greenhouse’s” radius, such as making it grow substantially faster and larger than normally possible, reinforcing them, and shaping them into structures or attacks. This gas can also affect grass that is already present. Grass she grows with this Quirk forms on the surface of objects, rather than taking root. The exception is soil, which can be taken root in.
The gas has a scent much like bamboo, Kaguya’s favored grass; very faint, but reminiscent of most green leaves or wood. Normal people likely wouldn’t notice it unless they were very close, but someone with a stronger sense of smell could use it to locate her (though releasing enough of the gas could also hide her within the cloud of scents).
In the case of dead grass or materials made from grass, Kaguya can use her power to briefly revitalize them for the sake of combat or utility, though they’ll return to their original state before too long.
Plants she has used her Quirk on will typically remain after her Quirk use has ceased if the grass was not dead (planted) or durable enough (like bamboo). To facilitate cleanup, Kaguya can also emit a gas that kills her grass creations and causes them to wither away. Typically she keeps some of this gas stored in a spray gun for precision removal, as it is indiscriminate in what it kills. Using this second gas is often necessary after she overexerts. This gas is only toxic to plants, but could upset people with sensitive allergies or respiratory systems.
Kaguya’s gases can spread to fill an area 9 meters away (around 30 feet) from her in all directions. It will hang in the air unless an especially strong wind comes by, or perhaps a large amount of water such as a storm or wave, for up to 4 posts before it naturally disperses. She is able to use this gas to hasten the growth of plants to a supernatural degree, as well as manipulate certain properties of the grass. Kaguya can emit this cloud up to three times in a thread at the present, at which point she will need to rest for two posts in order to relax her body.
While her main cloud is present, she can manipulate up to two plant types in a single post.
Bamboo: Her main form of offense and defense, due to bamboo’s already naturally high durability and growth rate making it ideal for both. As one of the plants she chooses to manipulate, she can unleash spears of bamboo from her surroundings or other bamboo that she has grown with great force, inflicting Silver tier damage as well as with standing it. These bamboo spears can reach up to 30 feet from their origin thanks to the plant’s natural size and growing speed.
Maize: Maize is used by Kaguya in a similar fashion to bamboo, but as a less dangerous alternative and with some function as a simple distraction; once a stalk of corn rises, she can force a chemical reaction in the kernels to trigger a blast of popcorn to be released; this can hit for Bronze-tier damage, but is mostly used to block peoples’ vision. The popcorn bursts can cover an area of 2 meters, being most dense up close.
Zoysia ‘Emerald’: A commonly used example of “lawn grass”, this grass has softer leaves than many others and is noted to form extremely dense plots. Because of this, Kaguya likes to use her Quirk to grow Zoysia to much longer than it can normally grow, weaving the blades together into things such as walls or hands that can reach as tall or as far as 3 meters. How densely the grass grows and its soft nature makes it an excellent cushion for impacts or falls (reducing the effects of such things by a single tier if it would be Gold damage or below), and she can even use it to trip up enemies. It is rather poor for offense for the same reasons, inflicting Bronze-tier damage, but can withstand Silver-tier damage when woven as such.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS: While her creations can be made much tougher and stronger than usual plants, they are still plants and thus susceptible to their individual species’ weaknesses, such as fires and even common grass killer poisons.
Also as mentioned above, because the gas is emitted from her skin, Kaguya needs to keep a fair amount of skin exposed in order to use her Quirk at all, or at the very least wear very loose-fitting clothes. Lower temperatures can also tighten up Kaguya’s pores, making it more difficult for her to emit the gas and cutting its range by half.
Should she overwork herself (by maintaining clouds continuously for six posts or more without rest, or having to create multiple clouds within four posts), it is possible that she will lose the ability to regulate the growth of natural grass in her range and cause it to grow uncontrollably. After doing so she will usually need to use her secondary gas to remove the excess grass; as mentioned above this is indiscriminate, and will affect all such plants in her range. She will not be able to produce a new cloud of her gas until she has gone without doing so for two posts.
Kaguya also cannot cause grasses to sprout from animals, including humans. The grass also grows “on top of” surfaces, rather than planting things in them; disrupting the base can therefore render the grass less dangerous until Kaguya corrects things. The only exception is actual soil, which her plants can take root in.
SKILL NAME: Martial Arts
SKILL RANK: Silver
SKILL DESCRIPTION: Kaguya is familiar with her chosen form of martial arts at an intermediate level. She was trained by her father so that she wasn’t entirely reliant on her Quirk.
