Haruki is a typical teenage boy who enjoys hanging out with his friends and video games. Often seen as a charming young man, Haruki enjoys the spotlight whenever he's around, although he isn't entirely conceited, there's a degree of humbleness on him. His friends would describe him as the life of the party, bringing upbeat energy whenever he is around. Some people say it is his quirk that gives the impression, but overall, Haruki is simply approachable, easy to adapt and blend in with his peers and has a certain charming trait that no one can actually explain. 

Born on the summer month of August, Haruki loves the sunshine very much. Aside from the affiliation to his quirk, the boy simply is unable to tolerate cold and rainy weather. For him it hinders activities that are best done under the sun which are the things he like to do so much. Haruki enjoys summer festivals and wearing his yukata. The fireworks comes every year on his birthday which he found a great sense of joy, thinking that the world celebrates as he does. He loves spending late summer nights together with his friends and dislikes sleeping early.

As a student, Haruki values his affiliation to Shiketsu highly. He believes that Shiketsu is just as good as UA and that UA students are overrated. However, he does not discriminate and accepts fully that people have their own choice and that choices must be respected. This doesn't help though with his competitive nature. With the false burden of his views that Shiketsu is just as good as UA, he feels obligated to become an exemplary student and hero from Shiketsu although no one really demands it of him.

Due to this complex, he also possess a streak of impulsiveness and stubbornness when in combat situations. He is often seen aggressive when his pride as a Shiketsu student is stepped on and even more so if he's provoked on several other things.

Haruki is of average height and weight with a slim and quite muscular build and fair skin tone. He keeps his silky and wavy hair simply draping down from the sides with several locks of hair coming down to his face. Haruki's eyes is turquoise in hue and has a soft and gentle look on it.

At school, Haruki donns the standard Shiketsu High uniform; a white collared shirt, dark pants, finishing the look with their blue and orange hats, a symbol of pride as students of Shiketsu. Keeping himself prim and proper, Haruki prefers wearing the Shiketsu High blazer for a polished and dignified look.

On his casual outfit, Haruki prefers light, buttoned up shirts. He likes plain prints or simple minimalist designs if ever. He likes to wear bright colors especially blue and yellow. He goes over comfort over style and doesn't really take much to dress up. This is often paired with slacks and sneakers and sometimes a pair of red tinted shades especially on sunny days. On colder days, Haruki wears a pastel yellow hoodie instead of his usual shirts.

His hero costume as Amaterasu is comprised of a simple black photovolatic fabric as material for his costume -sleeveless turtleneck tank top, a pair of arm-length, fingerless gloves with a cuff on the shoulder end, a compression tight pants. This is finished with steel knee pads and a yellow and black spiked running shoes. Glowing yellow seams are visible on his suit whenever it is charging with sunlight. He accentuates the rather simple outfit by trying the Shiketsu blazer over his hips and of course, the Shiketsu cap. Haruki also wears a yellow tinted, UV protection shades that serves as a support item that displays his current body temperature and as a communication device. A collar support item is also added to his costume that decompresses his suit to allow for cold air to avoid overheating. A small canister of cooling water is also inside this collar support item, capable of blowing cold mist for as long as 10 minutes to aid Haruki's cooling.

“BECAUSE WE DON’T HAVE TO BE SEPARATED!”



Haruki remembers that day clearly when the summer festival was attacked by the villains. It was a clear sunny evening. Haruki was waiting for the fireworks to illuminate the night sky and feel the warmth of the joyous festivity that coincides with his birthday. The cracking of firecrackers was replaced by explosions and screams. It was unfortunate, how a celebration was ruined by villains. He remembers how helpless he was back then. Teary eyes and an undeveloped quirk. Haruki cannot do anything but run away. The villains brought waste to the park, destroying everything in their path for whatever cause they have.



It was there, on the sidewalk of panicking civilians met a girl as beautiful as the summer nights. She was there, lost, helpless and teary eyed and wounded, just like him. It was fear that brought them together. Haruki reached his hand towards the girl and offered her his help.



“Let’s get out of here!”



Haruki remembers. The look on her face. The trembling hands that held his so tight. She was a stranger but she made him feel different. It must be love at first sight, but its not what they should be thinking. What Haruki thought first was to get out of the park and get the girl to safety. And so, with their little steps, Haruki and the girl fled from the main square, finding their way towards an alley where they decided to hide as they wait for the heroes to come. The alley where Haruki will finally get to talk to the girl.



“Are you hurt…?”

The girl nodded.

Haruki fished a band aid that happened to have his pocket and patched the girl up. There, in the alley, the two youngsters would exchange words. How terrified they were, where their parents are. They kept close as they cautiously walked the streets, trying to find help. The chaos would only grow louder, the girl held into Haruki tightly. It was then, she would realize the warmth of Haruki’s hand and how it was calming. How gentle his hands were, and how he feels bright and warm.



“Your hand…. Its warm…”



Haruki turned to face the girl with a smile on his face. He was ready to tell her about his quirk, how it made him feel warm like the rays of the sun. He was so eager to talk to her and know more about her. To know more about her name, when suddenly, the villains came.



“You are to come with me!”



The villain approached the girl. Terrified as she is, she hid behind Haruki. What will he do? His quirk wasn’t fully developed. His quirk was dangerous, but so is their situation. Haruki didn’t want to lose the girl. He didn’t want to lose her now, they just met but he felt they would be good friends or maybe… Something more.



“Stay away from her!”



Haruki growled, his skin glowing brighter. A beam formed on his chest, shooting an unregulated discharge of his quirk that sent him and the villain flying a few meters away. His body was too weak to muster such strength, he was too small to stand on his ground. The villain, however, was unscratched. The girl ran to Haruki, shaking him from his daze.



Yes. Haruki was helpless. He was weak. The villain grabbed the girl and aimed his glowing hand on Haruki. The girl stepped on front of the villain and the boy.



“D..Don’t touch him, please! I.. I’ll go with you!”



The girl whimpered, pleading. The villain reluctantly complied and grabbed the girl. As promised, she never resisted. Instead, she turned to Haruki as the villain dragged her.



“Promise me, you’ll never forget me, okay…?”



The girl cried as she watched Haruki grew smaller with distance.



“I won’t…”



Haruki groaned, trying to get himself off the ground.



“What…?”

“I will not promise you that!” Haruki aimed his quirk once more at the villain.



“Please no!” the girl plead.



Haruki fired his quirk once more, hitting the villain, but it did nothing. Haruki chased after them, but the villain suddenly leapt and flew away. Haruki watched as he lamented on how he was unable to save the girl. How incompetent he was to fail to do anything.



After that tragedy, Haruki’s family moved away from Kyoto to get away from the possible trouble. Still, Haruki remembers how he never had the chance to do anything. With this pain in his heart, he decided to become a hero. His heroism was ignited, he wanted to save people to amend from his failure. He wanted to become better.


One year later, Haruki would find himself on the same situation. At a subway on his ride back home, a group of villains hijacked the train that he was in. Haruki decided to take justice into his own hands. With his somewhat developed quirk, Haruki responded to the hostage situation which meant fighting a group of villains aiming to take control of the entire train for ransom in exchange of the promise that the villains will not crash the train, endangering everyone.

With Haruki's undeveloped quirk, he fought with several villains inside the train while patiently waiting for the heroes to arrive. This results to a disastrous combat situation that almost made the entire train burst with his radiant energy. Before things could got worse however, a pro hero arrived and dealt with the situation, commending Haruki's bravery. This however enrages the mastermind of the small villain group.

On the following days, Haruki received several threats to his safety and on several occasions had his life endangered with the villains. Thankfully, the pro hero that saved them from the train incident took interest in Haruki and have kept a close eye on him. Upon his graduation, Haruki got a recommendation letter for UA which he denied respectfully. Instead, Haruki wanted to become a Shiketsu High Student instead, claiming that UA is overrated and that he wishes to learn at Shiketsu without the pressure of the heavily prestigious UA Academy. The pro hero gladly sponsored Haruki's studies in high hopes that maybe, just maybe Haruki will be the next Afterglow, but in Haruki's mind, all he want was to become stronger and one day, return to Kyoto during the summer festival and maybe, just maybe, meet her once more.

QUIRK: Effulgence

QUIRK TYPE: Emitter

QUIRK RANK: Gold

QUIRK DESCRIPTION: 

Effulgence generates radiant energy (much like the flares of the sun) from the user's body (usually from hands, chest and feet) that is tangible, and hence, can interact with physical objects, causing destruction and burning, much like the effects of laser beams. The user must stay under the sun to "charge" their quirk, much like a solar powered machine. 

The quirk is versatile and can be used more than just its beams. The user may opt to envelope their body with the energy to either use them as physical enhancement or for defensive purposes. The user may also shoot beams of Effulgence to propel their speed.

Amaterasu (Beam form): Can be used to shoot beams of radiant energy. Either small shots of beams or long concentrated shots emanating from hands, feet, and chest. These beams deal gold tier fire (First Degree Burns) or gold tier blunt damage (welts and bruising) and can go up to 30 feet.

Aragami (Physical Boost form): The user can cover their arms, legs, and other parts of the body with the radiant energy to enhance their physical strength up to the level of being able to punch cracks on the wall, these punches deal gold tier blunt damage (welts and bruising). The user can also enhance their speed using the propulsion of the beam to up their speed up to 30 MPH.

Tatekami (Defensive form): The user can concentrate the radiant energy to engulf themselves with the energy which is able to deflect physical projectiles from gold tier quirks and any physical projectile that could possibly deal gold tier damage. More dangerous projectiles could be deflected but it would cost more energy and hence, exhaust the user faster.

QUIRK DRAWBACKS: 

Overheating: The user of Effulgence is susceptible to overheating due to the heat produced by their body. Prolonged uses Effulgence will result to rising body temperature which could prove fatal if left unchecked. The user must observe moderate use of the quick for short periods of time to avoid overheating. Sunburns can also cause damage on the user if used for a long time.

Using large concentrations of energy, such as physical boost and defense boost for long periods of time (three posts) will accumulate heat as they cover the user's body and cause overheating. Overheated user must rest for three posts to return their body temperature to normal.

Overexertion of the physical and defense boost (four posts or longer) will cause serious overheating and requires the user to rest for four posts or worse, withdraw from battle. Using his costume's "loosen" function and his support item's "Cooling Canister's" function, Haruki can use his quirk one more time while in "overheated state".

Exhaustion: The nature of Effulgence which is based on Solar Charges means that the energy generation is finite. The user is required to spend time under the sun to store energy. The longer the user charges under the sun or goes on without using the quirk, the more energy the person accumulates, the longer they can use the quirk. With that said, once the person uses up all the stored solar charge, the quirk gets weaker and can even reach the point that it will be unavailable for a while.

Haruki is able to use his quirk without exerting himself for four posts before he overheats and must recharge for three posts. 

Overexertion, such as using his quirk for more than four posts or deflecting larger projectiles will result to longer recharge period (four posts instead of three) Wit the help of  his costume Natsuori, Haruki can use his quirk even in the "Exhausted" state once per thread.


Sun deprivation: Having no exposure to sunlight will gradually weaken the quirk, especially if the user exhausted the solar charge. Furthermore, using the quirk at night has weaker effects.

Battles inside buildings with no contact with sunlight or at evening will cause the quirk's recharge to be longer (from three posts to four or longer depending on the level of exertion.) With the help of his costume Natsuori, Haruki can use his quirk even in the "Sun deprived" state once per thread.

Hero Support Items: Haruki relies on several hero support items to fight in full efficiency. These items hold a certain degree of durability and could be destroyed if it suffers an attack.

SKILL DESCRIPTION: Haruki's speed is greatly increased by the propulsion brought by the Effulgence beam. Haruki can shoot his radiant beams from his legs or his feet to give him a speed boost when needed.
