APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 6'3"
WEIGHT: 180 lbs
EYE COLOUR: Light grey
HAIR COLOUR: White
FACECLAIM NAME: Sanemi Shinazugawa
FACECLAIM SERIES: Demon Slayer
A tall, muscular man, Kaminari is known for his handsome features. It helps make up for the awful quirk that he was cursed with. That being said, his body is heavily scarred from his heroic acts. The man hasn't done anything to try and get rid of the scars, as he knows there will only be more in the future. So he embraces the scars, wearing them proudly as a hero of the people. He's lucky that due to his quirk the scars all heal quite well, and end up as more of a 'cool factor' than unsightly injuries.
Due to his deathly pale skin and and light hair, the scars faded quite well. On his face in particular, they frame his stone cold gaze- making him appear more intimidating than he really is. This is only enforced further when considering that Kaminari often wears a neutral expression, or a slight frown. But due to his unique appearance and reputation, it's not uncommon to find the U.A. principal on several magazine covers and such.
As a result of his dabbling in the fashion industry, the man has impeccable taste, and can look good in anything. He himself doesn't really care what he wears, so long as he can still move and be comfortable enough in it. This means it's not uncommon to see him wearing suits while teaching (or attending more formal events), his hero costume when he wants to be prepared for anything, or even a leather jacket for when he goes out and about.

HISTORY
Act 1: Beginning of a Legend
Kaminari Oshiro was born on the coldest night of the year, in the dead of winter. His parents? They don't matter, not to this story at least. His mother died in childbirth, and his father had died long before he was born. He was found by the paramedics in a grimy, snowy alleyway- his dead mother lying beside him in the snow. They'd received an anonymous call about a woman who needed medical attention. From there they rushed the child to the nearest hospital, getting there barely in time to save his life.
As he had no parents, no one bothered naming the baby. Everyone called him 'kiddo' , 'baby boy' , or something else along those lines. The hospital decided to keep him until he was old enough to survive on his own, which turned out to be longer than usual. It was clear to anyone who saw the child that he wasn't a normal boy, and that he'd been born with his quirk. So he spent time with various doctors, some making sure he'd recovered after such a harsh birthing, others making sure his quirk was stable enough to be around.
While he healed remarkably quickly, becoming a healthy baby within a few days- the quirk doctors had some concerns. Just by watching the newborn, they could tell that his quirk was an unsightly one. But they didn't know what exactly it was. But he was a quick learner, and was already speaking proper sentences when he turned 1 year old. He mentioned the ghosts to his doctors, and made the mistake of telling them when they would die.
Both amazed and horrified at the power of the boy's quirk, they named it 'Grim Reaper' after the phantasmal representation of death himself. It didn't help when he boy figured out he had wings later that year, which only strengthened the angel of death aura around he child. And he just kept learning more and more about his quirk, about the things he could do, about how dangerous he was.
On one such day, a doctor angered the young boy. That had been their first and last mistake, as Touch of Death had activated. The aggressive side of it. Within mere seconds the doctor was dead, leaving the young boy scared and confused. When the others found their coworker's corpse near the young boy, they immediately knew what happened. He was just a child, it had been an accident, but he was far too dangerous to go into foster care. So they decided to keep him at the hospital, and train him to control his quirk.
But first, the boy needed a name. They showed him a long list of all the potential names they'd come up with. But it was up to the boy to choose his own name, he was an orphan after all. Why should he be tied to the names and mistakes of the people who'd brought hi into this world, when they hadn't stuck around to see him grow up? That's what the doctors had decided anyways, so the Grim Reaper chose himself a name. Kaminari Oshiro, or as the doctors nicknamed him, Kami-kun.

Act 2: To train a Grim Reaper
Training the boy to control his quirk was a daunting task. Especially when he was unresponsive at best, and dangerously unstable at worst. Because he was more prone to affecting the soul when emotional, the doctors turned researchers (in Kami-kun's case at least) had to take extreme precautions when it came to interacting with the boy. But with their unwavering fear of his abilities, despite their kindness, the doctors couldn't connect with the boy. There was no real trust in the relationship, as much as they liked him.
So in an act of desperation they contacted the principal of U.A. high. She was an older hero, yes, but still powerful and intelligent. If anyone knew how to help the boy control his inner monster, is was her. She had a werewolf transformation type quirk, and the woman knew all to well how terrifying it was when the beast was in control. So she immediately agreed to help the young Kaminari Oshiro, and came to meet him later that day.
He was only five years old but the boy's quirk was already getting stronger. It probably didn't help that the doctors asked him to perform tasks with his quirk- thus training it and becoming stronger in a shorter period of time. The principal, Sakura Chibana realized this and custody of the child was given to her. While she knew nothing about raising a young boy, she knew everything about training heroes to master their quirks. Even young heroes in need of basic control, and a firm but strong hand to guide them.
So that's what she did, and he spent the next few years going in to U.A. high with his new legal guardian. Sakura was by no means enrolling he boy in such a school, not when he was so young. But his quirk was aggressive, growing faster than his little body could manage. It wanted to cause chaos and bloodshed, the same way her quirk had wanted to when she was a young girl.
Act 3: Hero of Death
ITEMS
Quirk: Grim Reaper
QUIRK TYPE: Mutation - Transformation
QUIRK RANK: Obsidian
QUIRK DESCRIPTION:
A quirk Kaminari was born with, making him the symbol of death incarnate. While he might not look like the personification of death itself, he was definitely cursed with all its abilities. The quirk is legendary in its nature, the power unrivalled by most anything else. But it comes at a terrible cost, a cost that might outweigh the benefits of this quirk. Even still, he's determined to use his quirk for good, making the grim reaper into a legendary hero.
One of the simpler components to this quirk, is the man's increased lifespan and health. We can't have the grim reaper dying on us, now can we? Kaminari had never been sick a day in his life, and has an incredibly high tolerance for pain and injury. If you want him out of action, you'll need to hit him with everything you've got and then some. He's truly a monster, something that shouldn't exist- but he does anyways. Even he doesn't know how long he'll live, but it's certainly much longer than a normal human would.
Eyes of Death:
One of the many components to his quirk, Kaminari can see the name and normal lifespan of everyone he encounters. The only lifespan that he can't see is his own of course. But for everyone else? He sees their natural lifespan, which is how long they'll live unless he intervenes and changes their fate. If someone is destined to fall off of a cliff at age 25, he'll know that too.
When seeing player character's "clocks" though, they're noticeably fuzzier and some reading error may be encountered. But this is constant, and Kaminari can't ever turn it off. That means whenever he looks at someone, he can usually tell when they'll die. It's lead him to grow distant from other people, knowing that he'll most likely outlive everyone he gets close to is far too painful for the hero.
This portion of his quirk actually works through a mind reading type ability, but the information he sees is visibly displayed above their heads. Everything aside from their death comes from what the person believes about themselves. If they truly believe that their name is Bob Bobbington and that their quirk is Leapfrog (the ability to jump over various things the way one would in a game of leap frog), then that's what he'll see. Another person can't just come up with a fake name and fool Death of course, that'd be silly. So whatever he sees is something the other person genuinely believes.
When he's in a crowd, this can of course get disorienting and confusing for him at times. But thankfully as he's gotten stronger, Kaminari is able to focus in on any name hat he chooses to. So if he only needs information on one person, he can do that too. But this does take immense concentration, and using it too much can cause severe headaches for him.
Angel of Death:
Possibly the one aspect of his quirk that Kaminari actually likes, he can manifest feathered wings at will. The wings function the way you'd expect wings to, and give him a majestic, angel-like appearance. There's no combat function for these, if anything they make him a bigger target. So unfortunately, the man doesn't use these nearly as much as he'd like to.
But for everyday transportation purposes? They work perfectly fine. He can actually reach speeds of 160 kilometres per hour (100 MPH), which is the fastest he can go. Anything below that speed is so easy he could do it in his sleep! Okay... not really though, because this takes immense precision and concentration to control properly. Flying up, down, forwards, or backwards without crashing and causing mass property damage can be extremely difficult.
Now of course since he can fly, his body has since adapted to be able to withstand the effects of flying. Should he collide with anything, Kaminari won't meet a violent end or be severely hurt. He also doesn't really get cold or warm, so he doesn't need to worry about heatstroke or frostbite while he's flying up in the air. As he's death incarnate the man is naturally colder to the touch, and his temperature doesn't really change.
Another incredibly convenient aspect of this, is that the mystical wings just glimmer into existence. There's no painful transformation process and it doesn't tear through clothing either- which is extremely convenient for Kaminari. He can be wearing whatever he wants, still ready to leap into action should someone need help.
Messenger of Death:
As the reaper is infamous for collecting souls, it only makes sense that he can communicate with the dead. It's helped the police solve numerous murders, although speaking to ghosts can be incredibly difficult. They are often sad, confused, or angry- and may find it difficult to express their thoughts and feelings to the living. Even when they are able to communicate with Kaminari properly, the dead have trouble forming coherent sentences- as they have no need for speaking anymore.
So the man's pretty much just permanently haunted by ghosts that can't speak properly. Thankfully for him ghosts typically hang out near their final resting place. Avoiding graveyards isn't too hard to do, the real problem arises with bodies that weren't buried. If there was a murder or a soul wasn't laid to rest, then the ghost might stay around the spot where they died. Or, in extreme cases, hang around the killer or people they were close with.
It can be quite a jarring sight for Kaminari. Just going about his day as per usual and then seeing a ghost in the middle of the street. It doesn't help that their phantasmal bodies show the way they died. If they were impaled then well... he can see it very clearly. But he can't just go ask the ghost what they're doing, or who they're following. While it's known that he can communicate with the deceased, doing so in public is always frowned upon. Most think the dead should stay dead, and that Kaminari has no business talking to them.
Touch of Death:
Thankfully, this is another transformation part of his quirk. It doesn't mean he likes it, it might even be one of the things he hates most about his quirk. But thankfully he can turn it on and off... unless he gets too emotional. This is probably why he stays so reserved, doing his best to keep his distance from other people. Touch of Death allows him to touch and effect one's soul. From there he can do a few different things to the soul.
The only one of these effects that he might not completely despise, is rendering your spirit unconscious. This is called Soul Soothing, and there are different degrees of how this can affect someone. If they have an incredibly well trained mental fortitude skill, then they might not fall completely unconscious. In a case like this the person would feel a lot calmer than they were before, as well as being tired since they weren't able to be rendered unconscious. But if they don't have such a skill, then the person will be asleep for a short period of time, for either five natural posts- or until they are forcibly awoken.
Another effect is Kaminari asserting his dominance as the harbinger of death, reaching into the soul and causing fear. The target will feel a paralyzing fear course through them, as they realize that this man really is the Grim Reaper. Skeptics and believers alike can be affected by this portion of the quirk- again unless they have a mental fortitude ability powerful enough to resist this. Despite the fear being sent to the soul and affecting one's soul- it will go through the nervous system because that's where you feel things. But without a powerful ability to protect yourself, beware the intimidation of Death himself.
