Starting as an innocent and rebellious teenager, Yoshito never expected his life to take the path it did. Before his "change", he was mischievous and quite the trickster, but never in a way that directly harmed anyone- however, after three years of the whole "villainy" shtick, he has made himself known in the field and has built up a kind of reputation for his twisted kind of "child-like" appearance, hiding a manipulative and sadistic undertone underneath his appearance, civilian or not.
However, this does not mean he isn't human. Just like anyone else, Yoshito can build connections with others, develop feelings, and even feel childish grudges against others for petty things- the only issue is that he's a bit... unhealthy, with a lot of it. For those he feels a true friendship connection with, he gets a bit too dedicated to helping them in whatever way he can, and any grudges he had... well, his choice of occupation should definitely show what some of those people who truly irritate him become.
Able to hide his "villainous" side during his time at his (general education) high school, the friends he holds there feel like merely a "cover", more so there for his convenience rather than any real connection- and he couldn't say he hadn't manipulated a few of them before, although covertly. When in his civilian identity, he comes off innocent and naive, something that bleeds through to his villainous persona- although in a much more... sadistic and mocking way.
APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 177cm / 5'10
WEIGHT: 56kg / 123lb
EYE COLOR: cherry-pink
HAIR COLOR: snow-white / light-green
FACECLAIM NAME: Yoshi Nanase / Mikado Aisaka
FACECLAIM SERIES: 1bitheart & 1beatheart
There exist two "forms" of Yoshito- on one hand, there's the innocent and energetic "civilian" Yoshi, while there exists a much more sinister and manipulative "villainous" Cardinal. They both stand at a height of 5'10 and weight around 123 lbs, and share that glint of pink in their eyes, but that's where the similarities end. Yoshi has two rabbit-ear-like objects sitting atop his head, which is apart of his quirk's mutation, something that's always there to identify himself. He's often seen wearing white parkas over his lazily put together uniform, carefree and a bit mischievous, it's nothing compared to his alter ego.
On the other side of the spectrum, Cardinal's hair begins a light-green tint as those rabbit-ear-like objects shift into a singular hash-symbol-like one on the left side of his head, a smaller target to aim for if they wish to disable his quirk. In his villainous attire, he wears a white shirt alongside a dark blue coat with light-green lining, completely changing his colour palette. On top of this, he has a long jacket draped over his shoulders that is useful both for flair and for quick distractions.
HISTORY
Yoshito is the child of a relevant hero in the field of heroism- known as "The Alchemist Hero", Ena Hara is known for his ability to create great mountains of Earth and strong winds akin to the rage of a god; all fluff, of course, but his skills as a hero are no joke. When Yoshito was born, he had high expectations for the boy- inheriting the Cardinal System quirk from the family was the first step in a line of events that would hopefully accelerate the boy into the world of heroism. However, there was just one issue with it all- Yoshi didn't really... want to. He was a rebellious kind of kid, always going against what his parents wished- but not in a direct way, like the norm,
If his father would ask him of one thing, he'd always do it in some kind of "technically correct" way if possible, always wanting to go in for a quick prank and playing off feigned innocence when confronted about it, acting like an idiot while he enjoyed it from the shadows. Fast forward to the end of his Middle School years, Yoshi's father would constantly harass his child about signing up to a hero school- saying that he could have a great career if he was sent to U.A or Shiketsu, whichever the boy found better; but, for once, he would be bold, directly telling his father he would rather just go to a normal school, and avoid all that annoying "hero" stuff.
His father was evidently not amused. After a night of argument, the only saving grace for the kid would be the fact that his stubbornness had worn out his old pa, making him finally yield after a lot of loud yelling- and, as if a part of Yoshito had snapped, he had that same urge to "rebel" against his dumb father once more, although this time... his antics were a bit too much. If he preached so much about "heroism", then Yoshi would dabble into "villainism"- and, once he was caught, he could stick his tongue out at his father, get a whack on his wrist, and be on with his life- probably get a job following some kind of dream of his, and be satisfied.
The problem... he never got caught- and he had dipped his hands into a murky pool that was all too addicting. The first act was a small bit of shoplifting nearing the graduation ceremony of his middle school class- the next, he would begin to pickpocket a few of his classmates both at graduation and his first days of high-school. After that, things gradually escalated until he had taken his first life at the end of his first year. It was exhilarating, the sight of a body pierced by his quirk's constructs oh so beautiful- and, with the ability to reform the objects surrounding the crime, he could remove most attachment he had to it.
This was just the start to a growing menace, one who became more and more arrogant with his villainous acts despite his cheery outer appearance. Who would expect the child of a popular hero, after all? As it would turn out, no one really. His first kill was a thrill- something that he couldn't relive, but the feeling itself was all too special to give up. From that day, he would cement his name as "Cardinal", a supposed solution to a "system".
Of course, he didn't really give a shit about uprooting the system or anything- perhaps some saw some his message as stuck to it, but the idea itself definitely wasn't crafted by him. He would simply use it to get his name out, to try and become a symbol to a select group of people, to try and scare, all for that twisted joke that he once pulled to essentially give heroism the middle finger.
After this, he would live his two years of "true" villainy doing whatever he pleased, finding joy in the act of taking other's lives far too thrilling, higher-profile targets being higher-priority. He would begin at civilians, then slowly leak to the heroes investigating his circumstance, starting to sink his teeth into more and more. Through it all, perhaps a part of him attached to the "sink heroism" idea that he began with due to its convenience. Oh, but to truly shake that community of dogooders, he would need to do something big.
So, after gaining a good amount of notoriety through his murders that climbed the social and heroic ladders, he would find himself searching for bigger and bigger fish- leading him to now, a moment in time where... he's still searching for that big catch, while trying to hone his skills. He's more selective about those he kills, but he doesn't mind taking another's life if the other seemed troublesome. He wasn't an all-known figure just yet, but he was sure that people knew of him- now, he had to find a way to cement himself into the history books.
Quirk
CARDINAL SYSTEM
TITANIUM-TIER | MUTATION-EMITTER
QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Yoshito can see the world in numbers. It's also odd explaining to someone who can't "see" what he sees how it is- while everything is numbers, he can still perfectly process everything as if they weren't there, as if he was processing both things on parallel channels. These numbers pertain to certain "compositions" of what's inside items- he can get a pretty good idea of what item it is, and whatever may be inside said item if something looks off. The main application of this quirk, however, is the ability to use "alchemy"- deconstructing matter and reconstructing it in another way.
In the Hara family, they're very much known for their dominant gene quirk "Cardinal System", and Yoshito was no outlier when it came to inheriting the family's symbol. When it comes to the four "affinities" that exist within the quirk, the boy is rather good at controlling both his surroundings and creating columns of fire. At this level, Yoshito has gone beyond the ability to control normal dirt, and now even being able to bend, shape, and create materials such as titanium and reinforced concretes, which hold quite a bit durability to them, and his fire is hot enough to immediately vaporize puddles of water around him and char the surface of buildings and the concrete below.
In the earthy realm, like it was said before, Yoshi is able to shape and control the likes of titanium and reinforced concretes. This means forming the normal everyday flimsy earth-like objects (the road, buildings, and dirt) and using their compositions to create these new durable objects, although the more durable one is, the more of the small stuff he needs. With this, he can create offensive spiked pillars of stone to shoot at the enemy, defensive walls of hard-to-break material, or even attempt to dismantle the arena around him by creating uneven ground. At this level, he can probably take down a small building with his control over the earth with some active effort.
For the realm of fire, Yoshi must take a bit of a different approach- items that are rather full of the "fiery" element that aids in this is, ironically enough, the oxygen that surrounds them. However, he cannot use simply the oxygen, requiring a large amount of his own blood to start the ignition- but the end product of it is quite the magnificent blast of fire that will leave one with horrible burns, going to the point of melting skin if you're hit by the hottest part of the wave. He gets three blasts of fire per two posts, and every two blasts of fire removes a post of his ability to use "blood" for his alchemy.
One last thing he can do is change the composition of his own facial features- while it's not much, and he cannot do it to others, it allows him to morph into a new look to hide his villainous activity from others. The two triangles on the top of his head are the "conduit" of his quirk, and are changed to look like a small hash-sign, while his hair is slightly outgrown and given a light-green tint. Numbers also begin to wrap around his body, constantly shifting around and spiraling, as if revealing all the info that he is taking in through his quirk for "note taking".
QUIRK DRAWBACKS: First off, the biggest drawback of his quirk is the fact that things must be of equivalent exchange. It's not as if he can change a lump of dirt to a lump of titanium, no- he must have a large amount of dirt, maybe around the size of a person, to form enough titanium for a bar. However, he can supplement his own blood for these acts, although he may only do so for up to six posts actively before he feels a bit woozy, requiring two posts for him to regain his composure. After that, he must use full equivalent exchange for this.
Secondly, he must be in contact with the area he wishes to alter- one of the ends of his limbs must be touching the surface, else he'll be useless. He cannot pull a wall forward if he is not touching it. Also, when he is about to use his ability, the air (or surface) or burst out in a sudden crackle of lightning a second before the area mutates and bends to his will. At this point, he can constantly maintain his quirk for around eleven posts of usage, before requiring three posts of rest that'll leave him vulnerable.
Finally, he has either two rabbit-ear-like objects on his head, or a singular hash-like one on the left side of his head. This is the "conduit" of his quirk and, if you were to destroy it, he would be quirkless as he waits for it to reform over the span of three posts. It's as tough as titanium, however, so it'd be quite hard to break through!
OTHER SKILLS
cardinal.SYS://operator
GOLD-TIER | WEAPON-USAGE
"Operator" is a spear that Yoshito uses for his combat, one made of titanium that was formed by his quirk, something that he can manipulate freely and shape in different ways amidst combat. At this point, he's an expert fighting with this trusty blade, able to morph it in different ways that gives him the ability to adapt to situations when necessary. When he wishes to hide the blade, he can coil it around his arm with his quirk, needing to use his quirk once more to reveal it again.CARDINAL.SYS://BOOT-UP
SILVER-TIER | ENHANCED SPEED
Yoshito relies on a fighting style that requires faster movement of his body, having trained enough to move at a pace of around 25 mph actively, becoming quite speedy as he moves around foe-to-foe.CARDINAL.SYS://ANTIVIRUS
BRONZE-TIER | MEDICAL EXPERTISE
With his choice of lifestyle, Yoshi has run into situations that may get him a bit roughed up. While he hasn't become the greatest at it, he's able to heal most on-site wounds that are around the bronze-level over the span of three posts, which is usually more than enough to get someone back into whatever fight they may be tending to at the moment.CARDINAL.SYS://INCOGNITO
BRONZE-TIER | STEALTH
Getting around places, being quick to not get caught, requires the person to be rather good at keeping themselves out of the view of important people. Yoshi isn't great at it but, as long as he's in the shroud of some darkness, he's able to reduce his vision as to not be noticed- the greater the shade, the better he's hidden. PLAYED BY PYTHR
